Description

Dan was a fortified Canaanite city with a defensive wall and gate. In the excavations of Tel Dan, the remains of a monumental gate, made entirely of mudbricks, were found. Stone steps led up to the entrance of the gate. The gate itself had three arches and the gate house was built into the rampart. As this gate dates from the Middle Bronze Age, it is sometimes called Abraham’s Gate.
