Hierapolis Sacred Pool

Description

Ancient Hierapolis was a luxury resort in the time of the Roman Empire. At that time, fifteen baths surrounded this pool, allowing up to 1,000 patrons to seek for healing in the mineral waters.
The most significant association of the famed waters for Christians, however, would have been the commendation, in the letters to the Seven Churches of Revelation, of its high temperature as refreshing. This was contrasted with the insipid lukewarm waters of nearby Laodicea.
