Ephesus Curetes Street

Description

Here we see the Curetes Street, one of the main streets in Ephesus, which led from the State Agora with its Basilica and the Town Hall in the upper part of the city to the commercial agora near the harbor. The street is named after the priests who served in the temples and it was lined with monuments and statues of important citizens of Ephesus. The street looks magnificent today, but would, of course, have looked much more impressive before it was destroyed, probably by an earthquake.
