Description
TThe beautiful marble Temple of Trajan dominates the Acropolis today and can be seen from far away. The foundations were laid in 98 A.D.
The arched and vaulted substructure of the temple was made of the dark local andesite stone, but then overlaid with panels of white marble. The Corinthian columns and capitals of the temple were made of the whitest marble. The building was surrounded by marble colonnades.
