Description
A huge bronze basin, called Sea in Hebrew, was put on twelve oxen and placed in front of the Temple (1 Kings 7.23-26). The basin was 5 cubits (8.6 feet, 2.62 m.) high and had a circumference of 30 cubits (51 feet, 15.75 m). It held 12,000 gallons of water.
Solomon also made ten bronze basins, each holding forty baths and measuring four cubits across, one basin to go on each of the ten stands (1 Kings 7.27-38; 2 Chronicles 4.6).
