Description
On the completion of his vow, a Nazarite had to bring a lamb for a burnt offering, a ewe lamb for a sin offering and a ram for a peace offering (Numbers 6). In Herod’s Temple, these were offered through the priest, after which the Nazarite went to the Chamber of the Nazarite in the southeast corner of the Court of the Women. In this reconstruction drawing we see the Nazarite who had shaved off his long hair, throwing it into the fire under the cauldron in which the peace offerings were boiled.
Examples of Nazarites in the Hebrew Bible are Samson and Samuel. The Apostle Paul also took the Vow of the Nazarite (Acts 21.24).
