Moses was commanded by the LORD to make two silver trumpets to announce assemblies. They were also used during battles and times of rejoicing (Numbers 10.1-10). Trumpets also feature in the Gospels, the Epistles and the Book of Revelation.
Trumpets were frequently used in the Temple services and never less than twenty-one times in a day. They were used when the Temple gates were opened in the morning, to announce the beginning and ending of feasts and sabbaths, to announce sacrifices and to accompany the singing of Psalms.
