Description

This is a reconstruction drawing of a Philistine temple that was excavated in Tel Qasile. The roof of the main hall is supported by two wooden pillars. This is consistent with the story of Samson in Judges 16.29,30, where we read that Samson pulled the two central pillars on which the temple stood, causing the building to collapse and destroy all who were in and around it. Although this happened in Gaza, the temple there must have been similar to the one excavated in Tel Qasile.
