Description

This map shows the area where the Canaanites settled according to Gen. 10.19. The term Canaan, or Canaanite, has two meanings in Scripture. The first use is as a tribe that inhabited the western seashore and Jordan Valley in the east (Gen. 10.18; Josh. 11.3; Num. 13.29). The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboim were Canaanite cities in the Plain of Jordan. The second use is as a generic name for all the inhabitants of the Land since the time of Abraham (Gen. 12.6; Num. 21.3).
