Thyatira Ancient Street

Description

Next to the remains of the basilica is a line of column bases, which may have belonged to a colonnaded street. The fallen arches, seen in this picture, and other architectural elements probably belonged to a monumental entrance or gateway.
As Roman cities followed a similar architectural plan, all of these remains may have belonged to the agora, the busy market place where the members of the different guilds sold their wares.
