Description

Khirbet Minya is an Umayyad Palace located at the northwest side of the Sea of Galilee. The palace was founded between 705-717 AD by Caliph al-Walid. It measures 216 by 240 feet (66 by 73m) and has round towers at its corners. The main gate of the palace, which consists of two projecting half-round towers, leads into a colonnaded courtyard. A mosque is located in the southeast corner of the palace close to the triple-aisled room which apparently served as a reception hall.
