Description
The Sanctuary of Athena was located above the theatre of Pergamum. Inside the colonnaded courtyard stood the Temple of Athena, the goddess of wisdom, justice and civilization. A statue of Athena stood on a marble base, which was later replaced by a bronze statue of the Roman emperor Augustus.
