Description
This photograph shows a large stretch of Herodian paving stones that is located in front of the Gate of the Cotton Merchants that was discovered by Leen Ritmeyer. The rows, which are about 3 feet (1m) wide, are laid in rows running from east to west at a distance of 45 feet (13.70m) from the Western Wall. This was probably the pavement that ran along the inside of the western portico.
